BIOGRAPHY

Eva Hesse was born in October 1943 in Zurich, into an artistic family. After secondary school she was a volunteer in the field of decoration at various architectural firms, to then attend a year at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zurich. As a film lover, she then joined Swiss television and trained as a film editor. As soon as she came of age, she embarked on a long four-week journey by train and ship to Israel, where she then stayed for a year. There he had the opportunity to live on a kibbutz, learning modern Hebrew and working in various jobs, thus putting his linguistic knowledge to good use. Back in Switzerland she married a childhood friend, had two children and dedicated herself to home and family. Besides that, he founded an atelier creating large format abstract batik paintings. It was later that, as a single, she fulfilled her great dream of traveling to Greece, finding a new homeland dear to her. Now she paints watercolors and is busy reading her grandfather's texts in Germany and Italy. In the winter he spends several months in Asia, traveling and learning Buddhism. She now spends most of her time at her home in southern Tuscany, surrounded by cats and donkeys and a large olive grove. In Massa Marittima she opened a cultural center with a friend, thus hoping to create new contacts and new activities.
