Hermann Hesse describes in hexameters his flower and vegetable garden at La Casa Rossa (The Red House). The simplicity of his gardening tasks leads him to philosophical thoughts and give the idea that Hesse was inspired by this activity to create his literary masterpiece The Glass Bead Game. In times of climate change and the loss of our original affinity with nature, this linguistic wonder is surprisingly explosive. Actor Matthias Schuppli recites this special work by Hesse accompanied by Hans Martin Ulbrich, who takes up a Hesse’s reflection about Mozart and improvises to create musical space for language.

With Matthias Schuppli (acting) and Hans Martin Ulbrich (Oboe and English Horn).

In German. Free admission; voluntary donation.
