A musical and literary highlight in collaboration with Ceresio Estate

Saturday 29 June 2024, 20.00 · Church Sant’Abbondio, Gentilino

What would our lives be without music!
From: Hermann Hesse, Music, 1915

As part of the summer concert series organized by Ceresio Estate, the Museo Hermann Hesse Montagnola traditionally hosts a musical evening event. The Alinde Quartet, consisting of Eugenia Ottaviano (violin), Guglielmo Dandolo Marchesi (violin), Gregor Hrabar (viola) and Bartolomeo Dandolo Marchesi (cello), has established itself internationally as an excellent string quartet on modern and historical instruments and will present a program that demonstrates its outstanding qualities as performers. The ensemble is completed by Alice Rossi (soprano). She has been a member of the Jungen Ensembles of the Semperoper in Dresden since 2021.

In addition to Franz Schubert's String Quartet No. 3 in B flat major (D 36), Drei vertonte Gedichte set to music by Alberto Nessi for soprano and string quartet by Paul Glass and Ludwig van Beethoven's Quartet No. 8 in E minor, Op. 59, No. 2 Razumovsky will be performed.

In collaboration with Ceresio Estate

Admission free. Reservations for the concert are not required

Before the concert, the Museo Hermann Hesse Montagnola invites the public to a guided literary walk with readings. This leads from the museum to the church of Sant'Abbondio, passing places that were very close to the writer's heart. The texts of the reading focus on Hesse's statements on music, which he loved so much. Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the writer's world!

In Italian: Meeting point in front of the Hesse Museum at 6.25 pm
In German: Meeting point in front of the Hesse Museum at 6.35 pm
