Thursday 19 May - Sunday 22 May 2022 · Sala Boccadoro, Montagnola

From Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 May the XVIII International Colloquium on Hermann Hesse will be held in Montagnola, a project of the Municipality of Collina d'Oro in collaboration with the Fondazione Hermann Hesse Montagnola, the Stefan Zweig Zentrum in Salzburg, the Internationale Hermann Hesse-Gesellschaft in Calw and several other institutions.

Prestigious international experts from Austria, Germany, Italy and France reflect on the relationship between Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) and Hermann Hesse (1877-1962). The lectures will be held in Italian and German. They will focus on the two authors' success in post-war world literature as well as their commitment to Europe and pacifism. The dialogue between them on each other’s works will also be analysed, as well as the themes of the works that lend themselves to being read in parallel: for example, reflections on the figure of the artist or on the world of school and education, love for Italy or Switzerland, etc.

Antonio Fogazzaro will also be involved in the project, both because he was one of Hermann Hesse's favourite authors and because in his best-known work, Piccolo mondo antico, the genius loci of Ticino takes shape in a very evocative way.

The excursion to Valsolda to visit the Villa Fogazzaro Roi is scheduled for Sunday, May 22nd from 11.45 to 16.00 approximately.

Day pass 20.05 or 21.05: CHF 25.- / Reduced price: CHF 15.-
