Every year, a historic garden in Montagnola opens its doors to music
Friday 12 July 2024, from 20.30 ·Villa Gilardi and Museo Hermann Hesse, Montagnola
In this newly conceived series of events, beautiful gardens of private houses in Montagnola open their doors to music. The series starts with the famous Villa Gilardi, whose garden inspired Hermann Hesse to write his cycle of poems In einem alten Tessiner Park (1937) and to paint two watercolors, the latter showing the red pavilion in the park.
At sunset, when the bright colors of the last rays of sunlight bathe the garden in orange, the Orchestra Giovanile della Svizzera italiana will perform Mozart's opera Bastien e Bastienne, directed by Yuram Ruiz, in oratorio form and in Italian.
After the concert, we invite you to follow the musicians into our museum, where you can listen to them in a more intimate atmosphere. The museum will remain open in its nocturnal form until midnight on this day to offer you an exceptional and atmospheric candlelit visit. A free aperitif will be served in the piazzetta in front of the museum.
In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the Aula Magna of the Scuole Elementari di Collina d'Oro.
